A comprehensive guide to understanding how Nowby works, ethics, and features for safe, comfortable, and enjoyable real-world socializing.
A. Activities & Instant Match (Ajakan Sekarang)
Instant Activities allow you to create or join spontaneous plans (such as coffee, meals, jogging, or study sessions) occurring within hours with people nearby. You choose a meetup time, category, and participant limit. Once created, a dedicated coordination chat room opens immediately.
B. Bio, Profile Photos & Account Identity
Your profile includes a photo, display name, and a short bio. Display name changes have a 30-day cooldown to preserve community trust and identity consistency. Use your bio to share interests and hobbies without revealing sensitive personal contact details.
C. Chat (1:1) & Quick Stickers
Direct 1:1 chat opens once an Ice Breaker is accepted by both sides. Inside chat, you can send instant messages, quick reaction stickers, share verified meetup plans, or delete your sent messages at any time.
D. Detection Radar & Active Sessions (Live Radar)
You only appear on Radar when you consciously activate a 'Session'. Choose your session duration (30 minutes to 3 hours), primary intent (Coffee, Discussion, Sports, etc.), and mood. Once the session expires, your presence automatically vanishes from the radar without background tracking.
E. Events & Community Recurring Activities
Explore local group schedules like running clubs, billiards, board games, photography meetups, or workshops. View recurring schedules, meeting spots, and join the attendee group chat before arriving.
F. Filters & Density Alerts
Turn on 'Density Alerts' in Profile settings to be notified of social surges nearby. You will also receive instant push notifications for new activity invites, incoming ice breakers, or room messages.
G. Guardrails & Share Meetup Plan
Use the 'Share Meetup Plan' button in chat to send a summary of your rendezvous (peer name, estimated location, and time) to close friends or family. Always choose public, well-lit spaces.
H. Human Privacy & Distance Obfuscation
Your precise GPS coordinates are NEVER shared with other users. The radar only displays distance as an approximate range (e.g. 'around 500m–1km'). Location is never tracked when you do not have an active Session.
I. Ice Breakers
To prevent unwanted spam, conversations begin with a single Ice Breaker note. Recipients can freely accept or decline silently without social pressure or awkwardness.
K. Koneksi (Official Connections)
After enjoying a great interaction, both parties can confirm each other as Connections (Mutual Confirmation). Being connected makes it easy to invite each other to spontaneous activities or events later on.
M. Modes of Daily Life (Life Clusters)
Select the mode that best reflects your current life rhythm: Student (campus life and peer activities), Professional (career networking and collaboration), or General (casual exploration and hobbies).
P. Protection: Report & Block
If you encounter inappropriate, spammy, or suspicious behavior, report it immediately to our moderation team or block the user. Blocking instantly hides profiles and permanently closes all communications.
R. Reputation & Character Endorsement Badges
After meeting or interacting, you and your peer can endorse positive qualities (Friendly, Punctual, Collaborative, Respectful, etc.). Accumulated points unlock trusted badges on your profile.
S. Safety Guidelines & Age Requirements
Nowby is exclusively for adults (18+). All members are expected to interact respectfully, honor personal boundaries, and never engage in harassment, fraud, or unlawful commercial solicitation.
T. Target Venues & Partner Spots
Find great cafes, co-working spaces, and local spots recommended as safe meetup spots. Venue managers can also register places to host gatherings.
